Friends of the Library

The Friends of the North Valley Public Library is a standing committee of the Foundation.

The Friends of the Library plan and organize the popular Chocolate and Authors annual extravaganza.  This event, much loved in our community, enabling local authors to showcase their work.  Chocolate and Authors is not just a library fundraiser; it is also an ambassador for the library.

We need Friends!  Consider the benefits of joining the Friends of the Library.

Across the nation, public libraries depend on their Friends groups to support them in significant ways.

The Friends of the North Valley Public Library provides volunteer services to assist library activities and conducts ‘fun’ fundraisers that raise additional monies to augment the library budget.

In addition to its fundraising and volunteer roles, the Friends serves as a social group of people who enjoy engaging with and meeting people.

Importantly, the Friends are advocates for the library. It was Friends’ feet on the ground that helped this library remain open and became an independent district.

Our Friends of the Library group is in trouble. Friends membership has declined with only a few older core members remaining. We need new leadership and new membership to keep Friends alive! As book lovers and library users, please consider joining the Friends, or talking to people you know who might be interested in joining and revitalizing the Friends.

If you, or anyone you know, is interested, please contact Library Director Denise Ard.

Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital component of our ongoing success. The North Valley Public Library Volunteer Program is a mutually beneficial relationship between the library and the community it serves. Volunteers generous contributions of time and talent strengthen our community and make our library stand out as the heart of Stevensville.

A big thank you to our Story Time and After School volunteers that help make these youth programs a success.  Your talent with performing, reading and kids is invaluable.

Carole and Lisa help us process our daily delivery of materials from Partner libraries and many other detailed oriented clerical work.  We are lucky to have these highly skilled women.

Current volunteer openings:

CyberNavigator to help patrons navigate the internet and teach computer skills.

Groundswork

The area behind the library needs weeding during the summer.  Sometimes garbage pick up is necessary.
